The unfortunate perception about Sales.

Although today's sales force is comprised of intelligent and ethical individuals, an unfortunate negative perception still exists about the occupation. In addition to countless representations of greedy, pushy salespeople popularised in movies,  We've all witnessed the stereotype of the "typical salesperson," focused entirely on the short-term benefit of a single sale. Along with the annoyance factor, This negative perception might make it difficult for salespeople to establish themselves as trustworthy consultants.

The lousy salesmen have this question constantly in their minds "Why don't we get enough appointments." When you think about the reasons, it's easy to see: We waste the time of the people we want to see! We don't create value in every interchange we have with the customer. No wonder they refuse to speak with us.

Consider this scenario. How often have you overheard someone mention a "Howdy Call?" These are a pure waste of everyone's time.

What about sales calls where the salesperson's sole purpose is to pitch the newest product? "How are you doing?" was their only question. (And they didn't even wait for an answer before starting their pitch.)

What about the unprepared salesperson? Too many of us are quick-witted, that's part of what makes us good, but shooting from the lips does not compensate for lack of planning.

If we all do one thing, we can shift the way salespeople are perceived. If we start doing one thing, customers will open their doors and answer their phones.

In every interaction with our customers, we must add value! We are wasting their time if we do not. If we can't identify the value we'll generate when planning a meeting, we're not ready for it and must cancel it.

Instead of thinking about how we can sell a product, we should consider how we can help clients. By doing so, we will be able to stay focused on the fundamental goal of solving problems and creating value. This creates a different language that conveys to customers that we are putting them first and goes a long way toward dispelling the negative perception of sales professionals.

You.

I want to write,
Write about you.
Not just write,
But also paint.
Paint you.
Not just you;
Your scars and,
The demons you have
In you.
Show me your scars.
For they will be the
Canvas to my painting and,
Ink to my write-ups.
Show me your demons,
For they will be the;
Paint brush for my painting
And the paper for my write-ups.
Show me your heart;
For I want to paint
Something black and,
Bleed something red.

I want to write.
Write about you.
Not just write;
But paint you.

Let's end it. Right?

"You've a sexy voice. Let's chat."

If I were to give you a dollar (currently 72.44 Indian rupees because "Modi Hai To Mumkin Hai") for guessing where I read this comment, what will you say?

Let's use some deduction that Sherlock uses to solve crimes.

1. It's not on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Quora, Snapchat, WhatsApp, Gmail.

2. I didn't receive it. My voice is a disaster.

Did you deduce it to YouTube?

Eureka! You're right.

But, you've to tell the YouTube channel to get the dollar.

Before you say a youtube channel of a singer, let me tell you the answer is no.

No singer, actor, dancer, cricketer, influencer, magician, prankster, etc etc.

Having pursued my bachelors from an engineering college, I've always relied on YouTube for learning.

And, there are some YouTube channels that are always at a rescue a day before the exam.

One of them is run by a girl. She teaches well.

The comments that her channel recieves shocked me.

She solves problems on a piece of paper and only her hand and the piece of paper appears on the screen.

There's nothing else on the channel.

Despite the simplicity of the presentation and the utility of the content, she is facing the unending harassment.

"Dear, your voice is cute. I enjoyed the video. Show face."

Sadly, she's not the only one to receive such comments. Almost, all the female Youtubers undergo this.

Since the advent of Jio where every person in the corner has access to cheap Internet, it has only managed to increase.

Thought of the day !!

Many a time, I become insecure as I scroll my news feed and find an avalanche of people celebrating their accomplishments--buying iPhone X and travelling to New York.

"What have I achieved by now?"
"Will I be able to even get the half of it?"

I introspect in the most unhealthiest ways. I fear being left-behind. The fear of failure starts to sit above my head. I feat if I'll be deprived of these lavish lifestyles and the ingenious opulence that we all dream of.

However, when I contemplate a little smoothly, I realise that I overlook things that really matter, and that is why it happens. I forget to recall that once a stranger had sent me a long text message full of devastation. One of the lines read, "You've no idea what a single poem you wrote stopped me from doing. May God bless you."

And those words were way too big to display on my timeline or count as a mere achievement. It's the change I bring in others' lives. It's the smiles and warmth I spread across the humanity.

In fact, whatever you're doing at this point of time, it matters. Did you use your "Googling skills" and helped a man to find the nearest Starbucks? Kudos, dude. You did a great job. That man fell into a conversation with a girl as he took the first sip of the coffee. And you know, they complete each other's sentences now. You are impactful--not just a star that twinkles, disappears and reappears every night. You're the drop of rains that bemuse the world with petrichor.

Backspace

Open facebook.

“What's on your mind?” It asks. Think about her. Open her profile. No new updates. Open messenger. Type her name. Active now.

“Hey, I am missing you.” Press backspace. “I need some time. I will talk tomorrow,” she had said.

Go back to scrolling endlessly.

Turn off the net. Lock the phone. Turn it back on again after 30 mins. Type that 16 characters long password in a haste. Incorrect password. Type again. Pull down the notification bar. 13° in your location, that's all it says. The phone beeps.

Open WhatsApp. 430 messages from 110 chats. Sadly, none from her. Open her thread. The hearts and the kisses were still there. “I love you.” Backspace again.

Put on the headphones. Create a new playlist just for the night. Don't forget to add “killing me to love you” and “total eclipse of the heart” to the playlist.

It's almost 3 am. Toss and turn in the bed a little, overthink a lot before finally sleeping. The night has ended. Perfect now. Wake up, check your phone.

5 AM: You have two missed calls.

Patronize her!!

Can you do me a favor?

Today, when your maid knocks at your door, greet her with a smile. When she enters your home, tell her to sit down.(make sure, she doesn't sit on the floor, arrange a chair for her.)

Bring a glass of water for her - the same glass in which your children drink water and make sure she knows it.

When she is gulping down the water, ask her how she is. Yes, just about herself and not what her husband is up to and if the neighbor is having an affair.

By now, she is extremely surprised and overwhelmed.

It might be the first time, you haven't handled her the list of the chores she has to do that day and you have bothered to talk to her.

Every person has a good and bad day. On bad days, they don't like to work.

Perhaps, she just visited you, and you started to scold her for being late. Had you noticed the red mark on her wrist? Her husband was trying to steal the money for alcohol. You added to her pain. Make sure, you don't do when the next time it happens.

I assure you it will take away nothing from you and she will get something costlier than the money she works for.

What went *WRONG*

We actually went wrong in the Biology class.

When my teacher drew two illegible circles on the blackboard and made a dot in their centres, the boys were controlling their laughter behind their books and the girls were overly embarrassed.

These are her's, one of the boys suggested, pointing his finger at a girl.
No, she doesn't have this big, someone else commented.

Before one more boy could give his opinion, only her school bag was there. We didn't see the girl after the incident. Disguised by our response, my teacher labelled the diagram in a grotesque manner and declared the rest as a homework.

Shouldn't have my teacher made the boy stand in his place and brusquely told him that breasts are just like the other organs of a woman's body and reminded him that he needed it for his bones to be in the correct order?

Maybe, the girl would have gotten some air to breathe; she's too young to bear what she had gone through.

Devastatingly, it's not limited to the Biology class.

When two girls would together take the permission to go to the washroom, boys would get the new topic to discuss.

This girl is in her periods, fingers would rise again.
Don't sit beside her--you'll catch an HIV infection, pieces of advice would be given.

Had only there were awareness programs organised to make them aware of menstruation, boys would have brought chocolates in the place of horrifying judgements.

Today, a writer tried debunking the myth that education can break down the rape culture--in his words--my fingers begged me to write how misleading the idea is.

Education can indeed break down the rape culture if given at the right time and at the right place.

The girl who had been unmarried since years suddenly becomes an air hostess after applying a fairness cream for few weeks.

The boy who had been unemployed since a long time becomes the CEO of a company after drinking mass gainer.

The moment a woman's hair shines, her husband gets flattered.

To be called a man, you should not have an inflated tummy.

You know your children will stay dumb if they will not add the chocolate powder in their milk.

To graduate from a foreign university, you need to be tall.

Struggling to concentrate for an examination? Wear costly socks.

You do not need a bulletproof jacket to protect yourself, but do not forget to wear a banyan.

If you are not getting the love of your life, wear a branded underwear.

Do not roam the streets after having applied a good deodorant; you can be behind the bars for creating accidents on the roads.

To sell well, you just have to do two things:

1. Make people feel worthless.
2. Make a fool out of them.

That One Person

You meet people. Lots of people. You become friends with some. You become foes with some. And you don't give a fuck about some. And then you meet this one person. The person who transforms your life in an unimaginable way. The person who is an exception to every definition of yours. The person in front of whom you can lay yourself naked(open yourself up). The person who not only touches your body but your soul as well.

You talk to people. Lots of people. You talk to some on a regular basis. You talk to some at times only. And you don't even care to talk to some. And then you talk to this one person. And you want to talk to this one person every second. You don't want to end the conversation. You wish to talk all day long. Yet it doesn't seem to be enough. You never seem to get enough of anything about this person. You want more and more of everything.

You get attracted towards people. Lots of people. You confess to some. You prefer to hide your emotions for some. For some, you realise it is all momentarily. And then, you fall in love with that one person. Mind you, there is a difference between attraction and love. And you love that one person with all your emotions, with all your heart, and with all that is in there(inside you). You never know when all of this happens. You just go with the flow thinking everything to be normal. And when you look back you realise that nothing was normal between you two. Not even from the beginning.

You let go of people. Lots of people. Letting go of some people hurt you. For some, you feel bad and it's all okay after a few days. For some, it doesn't affect you in any way. And then, you have to let go of that one person. And letting go of that person won't hurt you, make you feel bad, or affect you. It will kill you. It will shatter you into pieces. It will torture your soul. And it will break you in a way beyond repair. It will make you question your own identity. It will make you question your own existence. It will make you question the love you have for you. It will make you question everything about you.

Why is it that everything comes down to that one person? Why is it that you can't just be with that person the way you are with others? Why is it that that one person affects you so badly? Why is it that you can't be with that one person? Why is it that that one person can't be yours, for always?

What Else Had I Asked For ?

What else had I asked for except understanding me a little and loving me too much?

You loved me more than anything, but you invariably misunderstood me, and that shoulders me to the dictum that loving and understanding shall be parallel — and the dearth of either makes it cumbersome to stay.

What else had I asked for except a little care and a lot of affection?

You got hurt when I was harmed in any way, but you forgot to heal me, and that makes me believe that silently caring for someone isn't suffice — and you get to show it with your words as well as actions.

What else had I asked for except some importance and plenty of indulgences?

You put me above the rest, but you failed to give stress on the small stuff, and that made me feel unwanted; and when I complained, you thought I'm undervaluing your compassion towards myself.

I know you question yourself in slumber, and you feel worthless at times, but I don't feel less either, but I still believe we will make it until the end because nothing comes complete in this world; we have to add our own pieces — and I'm ready to give all my possessions.

Smile 😀

"Smile, please?" I heard a familiar voice.

With a wide smile, I turned around to see him standing with his brand new One Plus 3.
He was busy capturing my excitement.

It was the first time I saw him really happy in our friendship of 3years.
He always captures things.

Inspiring sun light and raging ocean.
Freezing snow and falling leaves.
The old man in his worn out shoes and the kids in their school uniform.

One day, I asked him, "Why do you capture every single detail you see?"

He smiled, focusing my face for a close-up.
He clicked and showed me my picture, and said, "Look, now you're frozen", he smiled and continued, " Now, that moment in the picture, no one can break your heart, no one can destroy your dreams, no one can snatch your smile."

I smiled wide and said, "Come let us freeze together, then."

That was our best picture of we both together.

After thirty years, now I'm looking at the Portrait on our wall and realised that he was right.

"Photographs freeze the moments."

Can I wish something?

Tonight I feel like doing unusual things so I painted a glass of water beside a pale blue ocean. The goldfish from within the glass  is smil...
